The Man With The Iron Fists
In19th-century China, Jungle Village is home to several warring clans. The village blacksmith creates deadly weapons for the clans, intending to use his payments to purchase the freedom of his lover Lady Silk, and leave the village. The region’s governor tasks the Lion Clan’s leader, Gold Lion, with protecting a large shipment of gold that must pass through the village. Gold is betrayed by his lieutenants Silver Lion and Bronze Lion, who plan to steal the gold. They use the chaos ensuing from a fight with the Hyena Clan to allow their co-conspirator Poison Dagger—the governor’s aide—to assassinate Gold, after which Silver becomes the Lions’ leader. Gold’s son Zen-Yi learns of his father’s murder and sets off to the village to seek revenge.
The Qing Emperor’s undercover emissary Jack Knife arrives in the village to monitor the gold and takes up residence in the Pink Blossom, a brothel run by Madam Blossom, Lady Silk’s madame. Silver sends members of the Rodent clan to kill Zen-Yi before he can reach the village, but Zen-Yi kills them. The mercenary Brass Body arrives in the village and meets with Silver; he is sent to kill Zen-Yi. The blacksmith meets with Silk in the brothel and delivers the final payment needed to free her. After arriving in the village, Zen-Yi and his men are confronted by Brass and find that they cannot physically harm him because his skin turns to metal on impact. Brass beats Zen-Yi and destroys his blade-laden armor. Zen-Yi’s last surviving man sacrifices himself to pull a canopy support beam loose, burying Brass under heavy stone. The blacksmith is watching the fight; he rescues Zen-Yi and helps him recover as penance for crafting the weapon that killed Zen-Yi’s father.
Meanwhile, the gold shipment arrives in the village, accompanied by two skilled warriors, the Geminis. The Lions soon confront the Geminis and their men, and in the ensuing fight, Poison Dagger assassinates the Geminis and the Lions capture the gold. Jack later arrives to investigate the incident and learns that the Geminis were poisoned with mercury-tipped weapons, leading him to the blacksmith. The Lions’ theft prompts the governor to send his Jackal troops to recover the shipment or destroy the village. Zen-Yi asks the blacksmith to craft him a new suit of weaponized armor. The Lions suspect that the blacksmith is helping Zen-Yi and have him tortured for information. The blacksmith refuses to talk, and Brass cuts off his forearms. Jack, who had been following the blacksmith, saves him from bleeding to death. While the blacksmith recovers, he tells Jack of his past as an emancipated American slave who accidentally killed a white man who refused to let him go. He fled America by boat and went to China, where monks trained him to use his body’s energy to perform superhuman feats. Jack with the aid of the blacksmith crafts his greatest weapon: a pair of iron forearms that he can animate using this energy.
Zen-Yi recovers and joins Jack and the blacksmith. Meanwhile, Blossom offers to let Silver hide the gold in a secret tomb beneath the brothel in return for payment. The gold is stored in a coffin which is raised up to the rafters. That night, Blossom has her girls serve the Lions, and Silk serves Brass. At Blossom’s signal, the girls use weapons hidden in their mouths to poison many of the Lions, and they join with Blossom as the Black Widows. When Silk tries to poison Brass, his skin protects him, and he beats and almost kills her. Zen-Yi, Jack, and the blacksmith arrive and join with the Black Widows to fight the remaining Lions while Blossom and Bronze fight and kill each other. While fighting Jack, Poison Dagger is crushed to death between large moving gears. Silver and Zen-Yi fight in the tomb; Zen-Yi cuts the coffin free and it crushes Silver, killing him. The blacksmith finds Silk, who dies in his arms. He confronts Brass, and his iron fists prove capable of inflicting damage on Brass’ seemingly invincible body. While Brass is in metal form, a powerful punch from the blacksmith shatters him to pieces. Jack runs outside in time to stop the soldiers from decimating the building with Gatling guns.
Ultimately, Jack leaves the village to accompany the gold, and Zen-Yi tells the blacksmith that he has gained a brother. With the clans destroyed and the village safe, the blacksmith vows to keep it that way and destroys the sign pointing to his weapon shop. During the credits, Zen-Yi’s pregnant fiancée is kidnapped by a bird clan, prompting Zen-Yi to seek the blacksmith’s aid.
The Last Voyage Of The Demeter
On 6 August 1897, the merchant ship Demeter washes ashore in England. Among its wreckage, the police find the log kept by her captain, Eliot.
One month earlier, Demeter has made port in Varna, Bulgaria, to receive cargo bound for London. A shipment of multiple large, wooden crates is delivered to the dock by local Romanian workers. However, upon delivery of the cargo, they will not proceed, instead declaring that they must leave the area before sundown; one of the men pays the quartermaster (Wojchek) and another crewman (Olgaren) a large sum of money and wishes Demeter a safe voyage, before departing with the others.
Clemens, a doctor and graduate of the University of Cambridge, overhears that Demeter is looking for crewmen. He attempts to convince the crew that his medical skills and knowledge of astronomy would make him a valuable asset. Wojchek rejects him and hires an older man instead. While helping to load one of the crates, the man is startled upon recognizing a dragon emblem on the container, and accidentally releases the tackle rope and causes the crate to fall; Clemens witnesses the accident and rushes to save Eliot’s grandson, Toby, from being crushed by the loose crate. The newly hired man declares the dragon emblem a “bad omen” and leaves; out of gratitude for his intervention, Eliot hires Clemens as a replacement.
Aboard the ship, another crate falls, breaking open in the cargo hold. Clemens finds a woman inside, buried in plain dirt. She is seemingly barely alive, and he performs blood transfusions to treat (what he believes to be) an infection. Later, in the Aegean Sea, Clemens and Olgaren see a mysterious figure shrouded in fog on the deck.
The following night, all the animals aboard the ship are dead, including the ship’s dog. The crew, fearing a rabies outbreak, throws the carcasses overboard. Anna, the woman in the crate, awakens and warns the crew about a “monster” from Transylvania, a creature that feeds on the blood of humans. In her town, she says they call him Dracula, and that she was given to him as a “slave of blood” so that he would leave the town in peace. She says that Dracula is already aboard the ship and looking to feed, revealing several bites on her body.
Dracula stalks the crew by night, biting Olgaren and turning him into a vampiric thrall. Olgaren is temporarily restrained but breaks free and begins hunting Toby, trapping him in the captain’s quarters along with Dracula. As the crew attempts to save him, Toby is bitten by Dracula. The next morning, the vampiric Olgaren, who had been tied to the mast by the crew, bursts into flames as the rising sun touches his body. Despite blood transfusions from his grandfather, Toby dies, and is wrapped in parts of the sailcloth for his burial-at-sea. During the funeral, the captain believes he sees Toby moving; he unwraps him, only for Toby to suddenly attack. The vampiric Toby then immolates in the sunlight (and severely burns his grandfather) before Clemens is able to throw him into the ocean.
The remaining crew want to destroy the ship and drown Dracula to prevent him from causing chaos once they reach London. Eliot, Abrams and Wojchek are all killed by Dracula, and Anna is bitten again during an attempt to save Clemens. Clemens rescues Anna by hitting Dracula with an axe, and Anna manages to crush Dracula with a part of the mast. Anna and Clemens jump ship, thinking the vampire is dead; before sinking, the ship ends up running aground on the British coast, enabling Dracula, with superhuman strength, to push the mast off of his body. The vampire screams in victory.
As Anna and Clemens float on debris, she reveals to him that she is now becoming a vampire after Dracula’s bite; the blood transfusions only delayed the process. As the day dawns, not wanting to become a monster, Anna willingly self-immolates in the sunrise, as Clemens drifts ashore.
Arriving in London, Clemens goes to a local tavern, where he draws Anna’s portrait in his notebook. He hears the knocking signal from the Demeter’s crew of “all clear”, and then sees Dracula, dressed as an aristocrat, laughing at him; the vampire disappears. Leaving the pub, Clemens sees Dracula’s shadow and follows him; he vows, for the memory and honour of his dead companions, that he will kill Dracula and send him back to Hell.

HellBoy: The Crooked Man
In 1959, B.P.R.D. agents Hellboy and Bobbie Jo Song are tasked with transporting via train a toxic supernatural spider to their headquarters. However, when they cross the Appalachian Mountains, the spider suddenly enlarges to monstrous proportions, forcing their train car to overturn and the spider to escape. Hellboy surmises that the spider grew due to something evil haunting the area, admitting that he heard it calling to him. Left stranded, Hellboy and Bobbie Jo wander until they meet Tom Ferrell, a local who’s recently returned to atone for past sins. The agents accompany Tom to speak with Cora Fisher, a witch and Tom’s ex-girlfriend, only to find the house and Cora’s body empty.
As they wait for the demonic familiar to return with Cora’s full body, Tom regales to the agents he once met Effie Kolb, a witch that attracted him towards witchcraft and convinced him to make a deal with an entity known as “The Crooked Man.” At Effie’s suggestion, Tom used a cat carcass to summon the Crooked Man, that whatever bone he held once the entity arrived would become his lucky bone. However, the sight of the Crooked Man terrified Tom enough to have a change of heart and discard the lucky bone, but it would always return and kept him safe from harm. Tom intends to face the Crooked Man once and for all. When the familiar returns Cora’s body, she reveals to Tom that the local witches want her soul.
To Tom’s shock, Effie arrives on a white horse to collect Cora’s soul. After Hellboy threatens Effie, Tom removes the horse’s bridle, and it suddenly transforms into Tom’s father as Effie escapes. Tom and his father reconcile briefly before he dies. The following morning, Tom, Cora, and the agents walk to a nearby church, owned by Reverend Watts, to bury Tom’s father, but Cora is attacked and killed by a demonic snake. Hellboy kills it, but its bites show him visions of his mother Sara, a witch who made a deal with a demon.
The survivors reach the church, where they are confronted by the Crooked Man and his servants. Tom is tempted to return his lucky bone but Hellboy stops him. As Hellboy battles the demonic horde, the Crooked Man attempts to entice the blind Reverend with youth and sight in exchange for giving up Tom. Watts refuses to give in to temptation and blesses a shovel with Tom’s lucky bone that allows Hellboy to weaken the Crooked Man and neutralize his forces.
Hellboy and Tom chase the Crooked Man to an abandoned mansion but are assaulted with traumatic visions. Bobbie Jo, believing the Crooked Man draws power from the town’s mines, enters a tunnel system through a hatch in the church floor, accompanied by Reverend Watts. A flock of demonic birds kills Reverend Watts, but Bobbie Jo disrupts the Crooked Man’s power source with a spell, which frees Hellboy and Tom from the visions and they destroy the Crooked Man.
In the aftermath, Effie ages rapidly, and Tom places the bridle that had turned his father into a horse on her. Hellboy and Bobbie Jo are rescued, Tom feels a weight has been lifted from his soul, and a white horse wanders with a warning painted on its hide: “Beware! I am a Witch!”
